Keran is not he only innocent person to be convicted of harming a child. Thankfully Suzanne Holdsworth has seen her conviction quashed but she still faces a retrial. Please sign her petition here.

We would like to thank:

The Anglea Cannings Foundation. You can read their statement here

FACT & PAIN

Special thanks too go to Penny Mellor.

Important Note: Keran and Iain would like to make it clear that they do not condone the actions of anyone that leads to a child being harmed in ANY way, but neither do they support the 'system' from making rash or ill informed decisions to prosecute.

KERAN IS INNOCENT!!!!!!!

We will not rest until Keran has justice.

On Tuesday 13th November 2007 a jury at Reading Crown Court found Keran guilty by a majority verdict and the judge sentenced her to 3 years imprisonment.

We all KNOW this is the wrong verdict and we will not stop until she has been freed. Please email your messages and words of support to us at support@carers4carers.co.uk

Help us fight for justice for Keran

The first stage of Keran’s appeal was heard on Friday 23rd May at the Royal Courts of Justice.

Evidence given by medical experts during Keran’s trial is being called into question by her legal team. They are now in a position to bring fresh medical evidence before the Appeal Court.

Andrew Scott, Keran's Barrister, told the Court of Appeal that he had looked at the recent case of Suzanne Holdsworth for guidance. Suzanne’s conviction for murdering two-year-old Kyle Fisher was quashed in May after judges heard fresh medical evidence. She is now facing a retrial.

Andrew Scott said he would be using evidence from a bio mechanics expert that will indicate Maeve may have died from bleeding in her skull as a result of a "short fall" several days before her death.

Lord Justice Hughes, sitting with Mr Justice Saunders and Mr Justice MacDuff, said the "real point" was "whether there is fresh evidence that suggests the conviction is unsafe".

After several months of intense hard work by the legal team, new evidence has come to light and new experts are reviewing the case.

We will be returning to the Royal Courts in November for further directions and are hoping that Keran’s Appeal will be held in the early part of 2009.

This may seem like a long wait but Keran’s Appeal is moving very quickly. We have been very lucky that the new legal team have established a plausible alternative cause for Maeve’s death so quickly and we have made a very big step towards clearing Keran’s name.

Thank you all for your continued support.

A Poem

Yellow Ribbons in the town
Yellow ribbons like a crown
Yellow Ribbons as hot as the sun
Yellow ribbons nice and fun
All for you my dearest mum.
