News - October 2007

Sunday 28th October 2007

This week sees the CPS and Police finally shut up going on and on about their unproved theories (think Salt Poisoning, Cleveland Child Sex Abuse cases etc etc). So now the boot will start to be on the other foot, and I wear big boots! As do many of you!

Onto other more positive things. One thing Keran would normally be doing now is organising the Poppies for the Schools and Scouts. So I will be making efforts to fill her shoes and get them out to the schools and the Scout group asap.

Please support the British legion and all our troops whatever conflict they served in. This year the legion are out to raise £27.5 Million. Not sure we can do that just in Iver Heath (I wish we could but during World War 2 we - Iver Heath - raised enough for a Spitfire or 2). But regardless wear your poppies with pride.

I watched a 22 year old servicemen this morning blinded in an RPG attack whilst serving for his country - us that is! He was talking of the future and ideas he has for buisness etc. If he can be so positive, in the face of so much pain and sacrifice I would feel a fraud if I didn't raise myself up. Our Glasses are half full, if not overflowing and thats down to the support we get from you.

Keran has had support this week already from her work place, today sees friends travelling from Yorkshire, tomorrow from Hampshire and all over. Whatever I say or write can never truly say a big enough thanks to you all.

We have just found out a friend of ours has been diagnosed with cancer (no names) you never know when friends or family, may need your support, be it a pat on the back, a hug, a chat, a brew, a phone call out of the blue, an e-mail, a bunch of flowers whatever. It doens't take much to show you care for those you care for or even complete strangers. If we all did it only a little bit more, the world would be such a better place.

As awful as this 2 and a half years has been at times, we have discovered the true meaning of Friendship. Sadly a few haven't lasted the course, but as i may have said before so many more have taken their place. Including some we have never really met but they feel so strong about this injustice and so strong in their support of Keran. As unlike these 'experts' they know their stuff, they know Keran, they have trusted her with their children ands till to this day would.

On Monday I went to see Ray Mears with some of the Scout Leaders, now there is a man who goes right back to basics. Living of what he finds around him and appreciating the old ways, so many lost in this country. Its too easy to track down a microwave meal and wait for the ping!

We should maybe just strip down our lives to the more basic levels, it doesn't matter what car you drive, how many DVD's you own, where and how many foreign holidays you take (often only seeing the 'touristy bits').

There is so much more to our lifes and we should all get out more and stop and stare and take stock of those things that cost so little, like Love, Friendship, Compassion, Empathy etc.

They are after all, what truly count.

Due to legal reasons, this update has been removed. We will provide you with a new update as soon as we can.

Sunday 21st October 2007

I was thinking of doing an in depth update......but when all there have been all the last couple of weeks is Medical 'Experts' or Pseudo 'Experts'. There’s not a lot to say.

However it’s not all bad news as I am due to appear on Dragons Den soon with a new method of helping people to go to sleep....it’s based on a court room full of some of these experts....who go on and on and on. Before you know it your asleep!

The trouble is the system is very expensive as they (the experts) charge a few bob. But you can pay some of the professional ones whatever their going rate is and they will stick to what you want them to say - no worries!

There is a new nickname for some of them as they all tend to come out clutching their expense forms or are given them by the CPS team. They are now known as Medical Mercenaries or 'Dogs of More'. Their Bark is definitely worse than their bite! But as an ex Police Dog Handler myself there are ways to get a dog to be quiet.

It is hard to look at them with much empathy as they have never proven their theories, they hardly ever back up what hey are saying with positive words or sayings i.e. 'I definitely state 100%', or 'I would stake my job, life, my families lives on it' etc!

They can't do that so they use words like maybe, it points to (it doesn't go over and say nope this is it...it just points to), could be, or the favourite 'in my opinion'!

There has been no added excitement at the court this week after the drugs searches, and escaped prisoner. Maybe this coming week?

Mind you this week, Monday it should have been but now likely to be Thursday we get to answer some of these ridiculous allegations. We don't start till Thursday as guess who has gone on too long.......

Not me for a change!

But they still have two big guns to bring on ( excuse me if I yawn ) then two lesser ones apparently (why bother......). It will be interesting to see how much we the taxpayers are coughing up for this. But that can wait till another day.

Great support again last week from the RAF Police, and people travelling from Hampshire, Yorkshire, France and closer to home! Again keep the messages coming in, they really do help raise a smile at the end of very tiring days. I write them all down (be they texts, e-mails, phone messages) for Keran to read on the way back or to court.

The house still looks like a cross between a florist and a card shop! The food (treats) and meals really do help keep the energy levels up and help so we are not rushing around.

With the kids off school this week, we are going to try and take some time out with them; they are doing us soooo proud. They shouldn't have to go through this, but they are doing so in a way that makes my heart swell with pride.

You are all the stars that light up our darkest period. We will never forget this support.  Those that dare to care are nothing short of Super Stars!

God bless

Monday 15th October 2007

Just another update for you all, Keran is hanging on in there and like all in the family are truly grateful to you all for your gifts, cards, chocolate (especially me..........UUUUM CHOCOLATE), flowers, calls, e-mails, texts, carrier pigeons (okay only kidding about the carrier pigeons).

There have been cakes and curries! Not together of course!

The weekend has been a pleasant relief from having to commute and go through all the stresses of court. Jamie finally took to the roads on his bike, and Keran and I provided the outrider support to make sure he got to Black Park for a ride around.

So now we have to buy Keran a bike as we promised her we would once Jamie learnt to ride (it was part of our cunning plan to get him to ride his bike - it only took  4 years to work)!! I am hoping to get her one soon...but not PINK! For those that know her car, you'll know why!

There has been a bit more in the papers and this time not quite so sensationalist!  They nearly got the expert right on Thursday too, she felt the injuries could even be months old. But some of the papers just mentioned weeks. Either of those could mean Keran would never even have met Maeve.

But the most important news is that so many of you dare to care!

Who cares wins!

We have been told that we may have a few more supporters during the coming week; it is always so nice to see you there. Not sure what we have laid on for you this week, week one was the escaped prisoner, week two was the drugs dealing in court (not our one).

I am hoping for a celebrity to be involved in this week’s excitement! Or maybe an animal loose in the court? This is their last week to put their case. I use the term case very loosely, it has more holes in it than all the Doughnuts Homer Simpsons eaten. Then it’s our turn!

Big thanks to you all, love your family, keep your friends close, and appreciate what you have.

Just would like to say a big thank you to all that turned up today at Court and the rest of the week. The lovely things people do such as Nicci, making a watch for Keran with lovely little touches including lots of stars to represent all of her supporters!

The bizarre thing was Keran needed a watch as the clock in the court is obscured! Things all seem to be for a reason at the mo!

Then to all those chefs, bringing their grub along for us to eat to save us cooking!! Thank you so much! It is so nice not to have to worry about cooking properly when we get in and just to warm something up is great! I could get used to it, Kerans cooking is rubbish!

The weeks are whilst not flying past, are going by slowly and surely. Not long now until we get to be able finally after 2 and a half years to get our say!!

Whilst the court has its entertaining moments too, last week a prisoner escaped, this week defendants in a drugs case were all searched for drugs...in the court room! Please feel free to come along, we can't gurantee your entertainment. But we can a warm welcome!

Tuesday 9th October 2007

I have just been sat writing down all the messages of the web for Keran to read on her way to and from court. I now have writers cramp! You have all been so kind sending messages dircetly to us, or via the Carers Website! That excludes countless texts, cards, flowers again.

I remember many years ago, even before we lived in the area, and was just house hunting. I remember seeing the carved sign at the Crooked Billet Roundabout saying Iver Heath. It appealed to my outdoor spirit and to a yet untapped community spirit that lay within (someone had bothered to carve it and mark the village). We  eventually moved into the village some time later.

Then we got involved more and more with the village and in particular its youth. To be trusted to look after other peoples children is actually an honour we take for granted...I wish someone would look after mine, say till they are house trained?! Only kidding boys if your reading this!

We are truely blessed to have made so many friends! Thank you for all your support it means so much at such a time when things seem so upside down. Thanks again to those who turned up at the Court today.

Be grateful for what you have and cherish those close to you

Iain

p.s. that sign at the Crooked Billet roundabout, was made by the Scout Group.....funny how things work out!

Friday 6th October 2007

I would just like to take a few moments to say a huge thank you to all those who have turned out to come to court in this first week. We have someone with us all the way through. Including an old friend who travelled down in the early hours, all the way from Yorkshire to sit through two days of court.

It would be great to have some friendly faces there for the rest of the time so if your in the area pop in! There is talk of a bus trip in the half term! So try and share lifts and hope to see you there.

What a huge effort people have made over the last few days and years, for which our thanks are with you all. For those that can't make it but send their cakes, food parcels, meals (to save us cooking on our return) their texts, e-mails, visits and phone calls to keep up our spirits God Bless you all. To those who have a huge printing press and have churned out the posters popping up everywhere, Thank you.

To all those who have found out fairly recently we apologise for not telling everyone, it was often for no more reason than it allowed us to keep going and focus on something other than this nightmare.

Some of you found out due no doubt to the delightful coverage in the media, innocent till proven guilty? If anyone sees Innocent till proven guilty can you please hand in to your nearest Police Station.

That coverage for the next days in court didn't seem so obvious.........

Not sensational enough? Its always nice to have balance. The truth the whole truth and nothing but?

But whilst this hurts us it makes us stronger.

To all those that care, we do for you, Jusitce WILL BE DONE. I will make damn sure of it!

p.s.

We may not get to answer every phone call, as its nice to have some down time, but it doesn't mean we don't appreciate them all!
